1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Talkhao, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

Talkhao is for people aged 13 and over.

2. Service Description

Talkhao is an app for learning Chinese: the HSK words, short lessons, and Talk, where you practise speaking with Xiaolu, an AI tutor. You can browse it and practise without an account. Some features need one, such as Talk with Xiaolu, keeping your progress across devices, and paid plans.

3. User Accounts

You don't need an account to practise. If you create one, using the sign-in services we provide, you are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Data Collection and Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Service.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the service
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Create multiple accounts for malicious purposes
• Share your account credentials with others

6. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue the service at any time
• Change these terms of service at any time
• Refuse service to anyone for any reason

7. Subscriptions and Payments

Talkhao Free costs nothing. Plus and Ultimate are subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. The 60-minute Talk add-on is a one-time purchase that does not renew.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.

• In the iPhone and iPad app: you pay through your Apple ID, and the payment is charged to it when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage and cancel it in your App Store account settings. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, under Apple's policies.
• In the Android app: you pay through Google Play, and you manage and cancel your subscription in Google Play. Refunds for Google Play purchases follow Google Play's refund policy.
• On the web: you pay on talkhao.ai, and you can cancel at any time from your Account page. If you ask within 14 days of your first payment on the web, we refund it in full: write to [email protected].

Your plan belongs to your Talkhao account, so it works on the web and in the app, wherever you bought it.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms of Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.
