Grammar Note
G1-01To ask a yes/no question, add 吗 to the end of a statement; nothing else moves. 你好吗? is literally "you good?": how are you? Answer with the statement itself: 我很好。 Say 吗 short and light, with no tone. 你好! without 吗 is just hello, not a question.
你好吗?——我很好!
How are you? — I'm fine!
米亚,你好吗?
How are you, Mia?
你好!——你好!
Hello! — Hello!
你好吗?
How are you?
我很好。
I'm fine.
米亚好吗?
Is Mia well?
